Many of the pages on this website reflect my professional journey as an educator, writer, trainer, and lifelong learner.
This page is a little different.
Here, I share some of the quieter parts of life that continue to inspire, ground, and accompany me beyond professional roles and responsibilities. These include family, beloved companions, moments in nature, creative pursuits, and simple experiences that bring joy, reflection, and perspective.
While these moments may not appear on a résumé or curriculum vitae, they are very much part of the story of who I am.
Sometimes, the things that sustain us are found not in achievements, but in the people, places, and small moments we carry with us along the way.
Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to meet many wonderful people through work, education, writing, and community service.
But when life became difficult, it was not titles, positions, or achievements that stood beside me.
It was family.
They were there through seasons of uncertainty, during hospital stays, and through moments when strength felt difficult to find. Their support was often quiet, unseen by others, yet deeply felt.
Many of the stories shared on this website reflect different chapters of my journey. This photograph is a reminder that none of those chapters were written alone.
Behind every milestone is a family who loved, encouraged, and carried me through more than words can fully express.
For that, I am deeply grateful.

Long before I became a teacher, a researcher, trainer, writer, or speaker, I was first a student in the home of two educators.
My father, Cikgu Haji Alfan, a teacher of Malay Literature, nurtured in me an appreciation for stories, language, and the power of words. Through him, I learned that literature is not merely something to be studied, but something to be felt, reflected upon, and carried through life.
My mother, Cikgu Hajah Umi Kalthum planted the seeds of a lifelong love for books. Before I was even old enough to attend school, she would bring me to the library at her school, allowing me to wander among shelves filled with stories. At home, bedtime was often accompanied by storybooks and the gentle rhythm of reading together. Those moments became some of my earliest and most treasured memories.
Today, I find myself continuing many of those same traditions with my own children. The love of reading, learning, and reflection that was generously given to me is now something I hope to pass on to the next generation.
When people ask about my achievements, qualifications, or professional journey, I often think back to these beginnings. The values of curiosity, learning, perseverance, and compassion were first taught not in a classroom or lecture hall, but at home.
Their guidance, sacrifices, and unwavering belief in education helped shape the person I am today. Whatever I have been able to accomplish has been built upon the foundation they lovingly laid.

Not all companions walk beside us in the same way. Some have paws, some are made of fabric and stuffing, and some arrive as thoughtful gifts that quietly become part of our lives.
Through the years, these little companions have brought comfort, laughter, fond memories, and occasional moments of reflection. They remind me that joy is often found in simple things and that meaningful connections can take many forms.
This gallery is a small celebration of those companions who have shared the journey, one way or another.

Nature has always been one of my favourite places for reflection. Whether by the sea, beneath a quiet sky, or in the company of birds and trees, these moments often provide the stillness needed to pause, observe, and appreciate the present moment.

These sketches and creative experiments may be simple and imperfect, but each one was created with curiosity, enjoyment, and a willingness to learn.
I have come to appreciate that creativity is not always about mastery or outcomes. Sometimes, it is the quiet satisfaction of making something with your own hands, exploring new ideas, and allowing yourself the freedom to create without expectation.
The joy, after all, is often found in the creating itself.

Some of life's quietest joys are found in ordinary moments — preparing a meal, trying a new recipe, or sharing food with family and friends.
These dishes are not presented as culinary masterpieces, but as small snapshots of everyday life. They remind me that care can be expressed in many ways, sometimes through words, and sometimes through a simple meal prepared with thought and affection.
Like many of the moments shared on this page, they are part of the life that exists beyond titles, roles, and professional achievements.

There is a life beyond résumés, appointments, and professional achievements.
This space contains some of the moments that bring meaning to my days — family conversations, creative projects, reflections inspired by nature, Baby Saggia's gentle stories, simple observations, and the small lessons hidden in everyday life.
Not every reflection offers answers. Some simply invite us to pause, notice, and see familiar things from a different perspective.
These reels are a glimpse into that quieter side of my world. 🌿🐢🤍
Through writing, family life, creative projects, nature walks, home-cooked meals, and moments shared with my paws, I continue to discover meaning in ordinary days.
The reels in this section offer small glimpses into that world — a world still very much in progress. 🌿🤍
